The Commemorative Pavilion of Lady Jeong of the Hadong clan was erected to honor her matrimonial devotion. Lady Jeong, the wife of Min Bo-gwang, took care of her in-laws with filial piety and served her husband with gentleness. It is said that for three years after her husband’s death, she ate only porridge, and did not wash her face or comb her hair, and that she built a hut next his grave and cried there in great sorrow, holding onto his spirit tablet, whenever the wind blew or rain fell. Her commemorative stele was erected by the government in 1471, the second year of the reign of King Seongjong, while this pavilion was built much later, in 1764, the fortieth year of the reign of King Yeongjo. The pavilion is a wooden building with a tiled, gable roof and round pillars, and measures one kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) at the front and one kan at the sides.
