The Commemorative Pavilion of Kim Chang-sik was erected in 1924 to honor his filial devotion. At a young age, Kim Chang-sik wandered here and there to find a cure for his sick mother. Then, five years later, when her condition deteriorated, he bit off his own finger in order to give her blood and revive her. However, she died when he was just ten years old, so he visited her grave, which was almost two kilometers away, every day at the dawn, and paid his respects to her. It is said that the patches of grass he touched with his knees and hands were dead with the traces of his tears, and that the stones he had thrown at the cherry tree standing next to the path to the grave piled up and became a shrine, which was taken care of by a tiger.
