조천상 효자각

문화재 설명정보
1676년(숙종 2년)에 창녕인(昌寧人) 조천상(曺天祥, 1568~1635)의 효행을 기리어 나라에서 세운 정려이다. 지금의 효자각은 1972년에 중수하고 1983년에 보수한 건물로 정면 1칸, 측면 1칸 겹처마 팔작지붕의 목조기와집이다. 정려의 사면은 홍살로 막고 안에는 효자문 편액을 걸었으며, “정려서문(旌閭序文)”이 있다. 조천상 효자각은 충청북도 청주시 흥덕구에 있다. 2015년 4월 17일 청주시의 향토유적 제98호로 지정되었다.
This Commemorative Pavilion was erected to honor Jo Cheon-sang of the Changnyeong clan (1568-1635) for his filial devotion in 1676, the second year of the reign of King Sukjong.
Rebuilt in 1972 and repaired in 1983, the current pavilion is a wooden building that has a hip-and-gable, tiled roof with double-layered eaves and measures one kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) at the front and one kan at the sides.
Red spikes enclose all four sides of the pavilion, whose name plaque, “Jeongnyeoseomun,” is hung.
