한글 내용

대한제국시대에 진사를 지냈던 조만하(趙晩夏, 1874~1950)의 고택으로 조진사는 조동화 독립운동가의 작은 할아버지이다. 이 한옥은 그 당시 청산군 관아인 지금의 청산면사무소 뒤편에 위치하였다.
조진사 고택은 1800년 후반기인 조선후기에 지어진 것으로 추정되며, 건축 당시에 안채, 아래채, 대문채가 웅장한 규모였으나 지금은 정면 7칸, 측면 2칸의 번듯한 안채와 좌우에 행랑채가 붙은 솟을대문인 대문채만 남아 있다.

영어 내용

The Ancient House of Jo Man-ha is located behind the current Cheongsan-myeong Office, which was the former government office of Cheongsan-gun in Okcheon.
Jo Man-ha (1874-1950) was a literary licentiate during the Korean Empire (1897-1910), and is known to have been a younger brother of the grandfather of the independence activist Jo Dong-ho.
This house is estimated to have been built in the 1800s during the late Joseon period. It originally consisted of the anchae (inner house), araechae (outer-wing), and daemunchae (elevated gate, flanked by the servants’ quarters).
However, only the anchae, which measures two kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) at the front and two kan at the sides, and the daemunchae remain at present.
